Thank you for your question, Tina. 1 cup is about 236 milliliters. Enjoy!

Thank you for your question, Ikazulfa. We would recommend using one of our
frosting recipes listed on the site. The combination of whipping cream and
cocoa will not hold up too well as frosting for this cake.

  3. Allrecipes says:

Thank you for your question, Grace Su. You want to use the baking soda in
this recipe to help the cake rise. Happy baking!

  4. Allrecipes says:

Thank you for your question, Perp E. You can use the same amount of
sweetened cocoa, but reduce the sugar by a few tablespoons. Enjoy!

Great recipe! It all turned out fine! Only I used Carob powder instead of
cocoa! If someone does the same, use only half a cup of Carob powder
    because 34 was too much

  9. Tyurru360 says:

I don’t suppose you’d have the same recipe in British measurements?
Translating cups to grams is a finicky process.

Hi all recipes i made a different cake before and it was delicious but this
wasn’t my favorite was it cause I used vanilla milk instead of milk?

  11. Antara Raisa says:

Hello! Is it possible to JUST use the baking powder? 🙂

  12. Allrecipes says:

Thank you for your question, Thai rox. You can certainly use coconut oil
instead of vegetable. It’ll give the cake a very slight hint of coconut
    flavor. Enjoy!

  13. StarleePie47 says:

If you’d like the cake richer, you can replace the water with coffee.

  17. Jessie Hudson says:

Can I use 1 cup of hot coffee instead of 1 cup of boiling water? And if I
use a 7 inch cake pan, how many cake will I get? Do I have to adjust the
    baking time?

  18. Allrecipes says:

Hi, Mad Bro – To answer your question about mixing the cake by hand instead
of using a mixer, you are welcome to do this. The batter will seem thin so
you might consider using a whisk too. Enjoy the recipe!

  19. Allrecipes says:

Hi, Maca Harvatt – That’s so frustrating! We’re sorry to hear this recipe
didn’t work for you. It does sound like there’s a problem with the oven
temperature setting (even new ovens can have problems), so our
recommendation would be to try a different recipe and see if the same thing
happens. If it does, this will be your clue that the oven is to blame. Here
    are some options:

Good luck, and let us know what happens.

  21. Allrecipes says:

Hi, Erana Bennett – Yes, to make a single cake, you will use half the
amount of each ingredient. To make it easy to determine these amounts, open
    the recipe page (
    http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/One-Bowl-Chocolate-Cake-III/Detail.aspx) and
find the line “Original recipe makes 3 pounds” (or whatever the finished
amount is for the recipe). Just to the right of this line, click on “Change
Servings.” This opens a new line with a box to change the number of
servings. The recipe’s original amount automatically shows in the box; for
this cake, it’s 24 servings. Type in “12” to indicate half the serving
number, and then click on “Adjust Recipe” just to the right. All the
ingredient amounts will immediately change to the new serving size. Enjoy
    the cake!
